[Saba Sports News] Gerard Pique is the owner of
Andorra FC, a club based in Andorra. However, the Andorran government has
consistently opposed the club’s use of the country’s name as its own and has
requested that the club change its name. Recently, Alan Cavanes, the Andorra
State Secretary for Sports and Youth, officially announced that Andorra FC will
no longer be able to use the Andorra National Stadium starting from the upcoming
season. In response, Pique expressed his frustration, stating, “We have
invested over four million euros to renovate the National Stadium of Andorra,
allowing us to participate in competitions organised by the Spanish
Professional Football League, including La Liga. But now you have expelled us.
None of the stadiums in Andorra are prepared for us to play next season, so we
have no choice but to leave and change the club’s name. Congratulations,
Andorra, for depriving us of a professional football team.”
