[Saba Sports News] In the previous 23rd round of
the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich secured a 2-1 victory against RB Leipzig at home.
Notably, Bayern Munich’s home fans displayed a large banner at the stadium that
read “FXXK RB,” expressing their opposition to the Red Bull Group.
This display of sentiment is rooted in the controversy surrounding Red Bull’s
involvement in German football. The German Football Association has a rule
known as “50+1,” which prohibits private investors or companies from
owning 50% or more of the equity of professional teams. However, Red Bull Group
found a loophole by initially issuing a small number of shares and subsequently
purchasing 49% of them themselves. They then set the remaining shares at a high
price, allowing only specific investments to be eligible for purchase.
Additionally, the Bundesliga prohibits clubs from being named after companies,
but Red Bull argues that RB does not stand for their own “Red Bull”
but rather for RasenBallsport, meaning “the sport of playing balls on the
lawn.” The situation has generated contrasting opinions. What are your
thoughts on this matter?
