[Saba Sports News] One Houston Rockets player hopes to avoid a repeat of Memphis Grizzlies’ Dillon Brooks’ behavior.
During Thursday night’s game against the Chicago Bulls, Rockets’ swingman Brooks was ejected after coming to teammate Jalen Green’s defense following a hard foul by Bulls veteran DeMar DeRozan, igniting a scuffle. Both Brooks and DeRozan were ejected from the game, which the Rockets went on to win 127-117.
Following the game, Houston big man Jock Landale, who had a strong performance with 17 points and 12 rebounds off the bench, took the opportunity during a postgame interview to address Brooks directly.
“Dillon Brooks, if you’re listening. This ain’t Memphis, man,” Landale remarked. “Stop getting yourself ejected. We need you out here. We need that physicality.”
While Landale’s comment may have had a light-hearted tone, there’s a hint of truth in his message. Brooks, known for his defensive prowess, has now been ejected twice this season and accumulated 13 technical fouls, just three away from triggering an automatic one-game suspension.
Although Brooks’ actions in defending his teammate on Thursday could be justified to some extent, his frequent ejections raise concerns, especially considering the impact his behavior had on his former team, the Grizzlies, last year.
