[Saba Sports News] According to F1-Insider.com,
after the conclusion of the 2024 F1 Australian Grand Prix, there are reports
that Red Bull Racing’s team principal, Christian Horner, is interested in
signing Fernando Alonso for the 2025 season to replace Sergio Perez. This is
not the first time Horner has expressed interest in Alonso. In 2013, he had
attempted to bring Alonso to Red Bull Racing as Sebastian Vettel’s teammate,
but the proposal was rejected by team consultant Dr. Helmut Marko and team boss
Dietrich Mateschitz. Dr. Marko had stated at that time that Alonso was not
suitable for the team’s focus on young drivers. However, with the change in
power dynamics at Red Bull Racing and Horner’s inclination towards experienced
drivers over promoting from the team’s junior program, Alonso has emerged as
Horner’s preferred choice. It remains to be seen if this potential driver
change will come to fruition.
