[Saba Sports News] F1 legend Mario Gabriele
Andretti expressed in a media interview that Lewis Hamilton, currently facing
challenges at Mercedes, is no longer the “Superman.” Hamilton has
been a dominant force in Formula 1 with Mercedes since the V6 hybrid era began
in 2014. In 2020, he equaled Michael Schumacher’s long-standing record of seven
F1 World Championships, and the following year, he became the first driver to
achieve over 100 pole positions and grand prix wins. However, Hamilton has not
won a race since the 2021 Saudi Grand Prix. The new season started off on a
lackluster note for Hamilton, and it is predicted that his championship drought
will continue in 2024. So far this year, Hamilton has not finished higher than
7th place in any race and has been outperformed by his teammate George Russell
in qualifying for the first three races. These circumstances have affected
Hamilton’s standing in the sport. Considering the threat and impact of Russell,
it is speculated that Ferrari, who signed the seven-time world champion, might
have regrets.
