[Saba Sports News] The San Antonio Spurs, who already boast a uniquely skilled and lengthy big man, are reportedly showing interest in Bol Bol of the Phoenix Suns, as per NBA insider Sam Amico from Hoops Wire. Bol became trade-eligible after December 15, the date marking the end of the trade moratorium for players like him who signed free agent deals in the summer.
Bol, standing at an impressive 7’3″ with a 7’8″ wingspan, could potentially create a new Twin Towers duo in San Antonio, possibly alongside Victor Wembanyama. Both Bol and Wembanyama have been noted for their extraordinary length and skills that surpass those of traditional big men. There have been comparisons and even claims by a Hall of Famer about Bol’s prowess compared to Wembanyama, who is yet to make his NBA debut.
However, expectations of Bol becoming a counterpart to Wembanyama similar to David Robinson’s pairing with Tim Duncan might be premature. Bol has shifted between teams, currently in his third team in five seasons, and has struggled to secure a regular spot in the Suns’ rotation, which lacks depth in the frontcourt.
The 24-year-old Bol’s best performance was last season with the Orlando Magic, where he averaged 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game. Throughout his five NBA seasons, Bol has averaged 6.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks in 14.4 minutes per game.
