[Saba Sports News] Kyrie Irving secured a significant bonus from the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, benefiting both him and the team. Last year, Irving signed a three-year, $120 million extension with the Mavericks that included $6 million in potential incentives. One of these incentives required Irving to play at least 58 games and the Mavericks to achieve at least 50 wins in the season.
Irving met these conditions by playing 37 minutes and scoring 25 points during the Mavericks’ 111-92 victory over the Miami Heat, marking their 50th win of the season. This performance helped him claim a $1 million bonus.
Notably, Irving demonstrated his dedication by participating in 31 consecutive games to meet the games-played requirement, even signaling the achievement by gesturing “50” with his hands as he headed to the bench late in the game.
Despite earning a substantial base salary of $37 million this year, plus additional income from endorsements, the $1 million bonus was still significant to Irving, who clearly valued the accomplishment. Mavericks owner Mark Cuban even shared a light-hearted moment with Irving regarding the bonus.
