[Saba Sports News] India cricketer Mohammad Shami’s estranged wife, Hasin Jahan, recently declined to extend her best wishes to the pacer for his outstanding performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
Shami, who seems to be aging like fine wine, has impressed with his remarkable feat of 16 wickets in just four innings during the World Cup 2023, boasting an impressive average of 7.00 and a strikingly low strike rate of 9.75. The 33-year-old recently eclipsed Zaheer Khan to become India’s highest wicket-taker in ODI World Cup history.
Shami’s ex-wife stated that it is good that he is performing well as it would also allow him to earn more and provide financial support to his family, expressing hope for a secure future.
“Kuch bhi hai, accha perform kr rha hai, accha khelega, team main bana rahega, achha kamayega toh humara bhavishya secure rahega. (Whatever it is, if he [Shami] is performing well, will stay in Indian team and earn well, it will secure our future),” said Hasin as quoted to News Nation.
She extended her best wishes to Team India for the tournament but promptly refused to send any wishes to Shami.
“I will give my best wishes to Team India but not him,” she added.
Shami has been embroiled in a tumultuous legal battle after facing accusations of domestic violence, adultery, match-fixing, and marital rape by his separated wife, leading the pacer to contemplate suicide. An FIR was also lodged against Shami by his ex-wife at the Jadavpur police station. However, Shami was granted bail by the Alipore Court in September 2023.
