[Saba Sports News] Australia is gearing up for their next ODI World Cup 2023 match on November 4 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, facing defending champions, England. After two initial losses, Australia has shown remarkable consistency, winning their last four games and securing the third spot in the points table.
During their practice session, a local left-arm spinner caught the eye of Australian captain Pat Cummins with his skills. Cummins was so impressed that he gifted the young spinner his bat after the session, as the spinner had dismissed him five times in practice.
It’s worth noting that hosting state cricket associations provide net bowlers to visiting teams. Cummins’ gesture was heartwarming and will boost the confidence of the young bowler.
Australia currently has eight points and a strong net run rate in the tournament. Batsman David Warner has been in top form, ranking fourth in the list of highest run-scorers with 413 runs at an average of 68.83. Travis Head also made a significant impact with a century in the previous match against New Zealand.
In contrast, England has struggled in the tournament, winning only one out of six matches and currently sitting at the bottom of the points table. They aim to improve their performance in the remaining three matches to secure a spot in the top eight, as only the top eight teams will qualify for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
