[Saba Sports News] The recent Lakers vs. Clippers game, a tightly contested duel between the rival teams, ended with the Lakers securing a 106-103 victory. A major highlight of the game was LeBron James’ emphatic poster dunk on Paul George. Reflecting on this moment in his podcast, George described the lead-up to the dunk.
George recounted, “When things start off wrong, they often end that way. AD deflected the ball, and LeBron got it. So, I already messed up the play. LeBron was charging down the court. I thought I’d play it smart, but sometimes that backfires. Usually, LeBron passes and gets it back, but he didn’t this time. So, I tried to confront him earlier, but I also had to be ready for the impact, which made me back up. It felt like being a deer caught in headlights. Before I knew what to do next, I was already in the poster.”
In that game, LeBron led the Lakers with 25 points, showcasing his all-around skills, including stout defense against Kawhi Leonard and George. George, scoring 22 points, tied as the Clippers’ top scorer with Ivica Zubac.
Currently, the Lakers and Clippers are positioned differently in the Western Conference standings. The Clippers are at 25-14, just two games behind the third-seeded Denver Nuggets, whereas the Lakers are 11th with a 19-21 record. The Lakers face a challenge in improving their performance to either make the playoffs directly or possibly enter through the play-in, depending on whether they can surpass teams like the Rockets or Jazz in the standings.
