[Saba Sports News] The prominent figure featured in the Netflix
documentary series “Drive to Survive” was Guenther Steiner, who was
the previous team leader of Haas. According to recent reports, Steiner has
resigned, and Ayao Komatsu, a 47-year-old with over 20 years of experience in
the F1 field, has taken over as the new team leader for Haas. Komatsu has held
engineering and management positions in British and American teams, and he has
previously worked with the Renault team. He has been with Haas since their F1
debut in 2016, starting as the chief race engineer and eventually rising to the
position of engineering director. With his extensive experience, Komatsu is
well-acquainted with the operations of the Haas team and can quickly identify
and address any issues. To alleviate Komatsu’s workload, team owner Gene Haas
plans to hire a chief operating officer based in Europe. This individual will
have overall responsibility for non-competition matters, including areas such
as human resources, administration, finance, marketing, and communications.
These changes are aimed at improving the operational efficiency of the team and
establishing a strong foundation for future competitions.
