[Saba Sports News] In the closely fought India-Australia women’s T20I series, both teams are evenly matched, heading into the deciding third match on January 9. India, after a win in the first T20I, couldn’t replicate their success in the second match.
Shreyanka Patil, a young Indian talent, had ambitions of dismissing Australian star Ellyse Perry, especially in Perry’s milestone 300th international game. However, Perry turned the tables, hitting a match-winning six off Patil. Perry’s impressive 34* off 21 deliveries clinched a six-wicket victory for Australia. Patil humorously reflected on this encounter on X (formerly Twitter), noting the irony of her initial hopes versus the outcome, with Perry hitting her for a six in her landmark game.
Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur commented post-match that had Patil been accurate in the crucial 19th over, the result might have been different for India. Kaur’s remarks sparked controversy among fans, with some criticizing her for seemingly blaming the young bowler.
Kaur highlighted the positives of taking wickets at key moments and viewed the close game as a learning opportunity. She stated, “We were getting those opportunities and taking wickets in the middle, that’s a positive. If Shreyanka was on target in the 19th over, things would have been different, but these close games help to identify areas to improve.
