After the PCB refused to provide him a No-Objection
Certificate (NOC) to participate in the Bangladesh Premier League, Pakistani
batter Mohammad Haris has returned home.
Haris was a member of the Chattogram Challengers team,
but the PCB discovered after he had been in Bangladesh for a few days that he
had previously participated in the two international T20 competitions that were
required to be held between July 2023 and July 2024. In July and August of last
year, Haris participated in both the Global T20 Canada and the Lanka Premier
League. In both competitions, he represented Surrey Jaguars and B-Love Kandy,
respectively.
Haris claimed that after arriving early in the nation
to get ready for the competition, he learned that the NOC would not be granted.
“Thank you, Chattogram team management and the
BCB for taking care of me and giving me this opportunity,” he said.
“I also flew in on time to prepare myself to give some great games to my
fans in Bangladesh. Unfortunately, my NOC was not issued. Hence, I will not
play any games. I knew my team needed me. Hopefully, I will join them next
year. I will definitely miss playing the BPL.”
Chattogram Challengers beat Sylhet Strikers in their
first match of the season, before losing to Khulna Tigers in the second game.
The Chattogram franchise is yet to announce a replacement for Haris.
