[Saba Sports News] In what is coming as a not-so-encouraging development for India, their star pacer is likely to remain unavailable for the final three Tests of the ongoing five-match series against England.
Shami last played a match in the ODI World Cup 2023. He battled ankle issues and became the highest wicket-taker in the tournament despite the pain.
He missed the Test series versus South Africa and was not even included in the squad for the first two matches of the home assignment against England due to the injury.
Cricbuzz has now reported that the fast-bowler is in London for the treatment.
“The situation with Shami is also not promising. The pacer is grappling with an ankle issue during landing,” Cricbuzz reported.
“He is currently in London, and while there is no immediate information about surgery, he is believed to be undergoing treatments for the ankle with injections. It is almost certain he will not be available for any match of the ongoing five-Test series,” the report added.
Shami’s injury woes is a major setback for India. KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja also injured themselves in the first Test in Hyderabad and there is no certainty on the time it will take for them to get fit. Moreover, there are no updates on Virat Kohli’s availability, who pulled out of the first two matches citing personal reasons.
