[Saba Sports News] The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is pulling all stops to rope in Shane Watson as their new head coach ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.
As reported, PCB has agreed to pay Watson an annual salary of $2 million which equates to 46 million rupees per month. This fee proposal, if accepted by Watson, will make him the highest-paid head coach in the history of Pakistan cricket.
The Aussie is still uncertain on the deal with his family in Australia and other commitments coming in his way.
“Considering his young family in Australia and commitments in the USA Major League, he is assessing his options. The board expects him to dedicate ample time to Pakistan, aiding in talent discovery and domestic grooming,” a source said as quoted.
Watson is currently the head coach of Quetta Gladiators and has taken the franchise to the playoffs in PSL 2024. He is also the assistant coach at Delhi Capitals. However, he has no prior experience of coaching an international team.
With the New Zealand series and T20 World Cup fast approaching, expect a decision on this soon.
