[Saba Sports News] The second session of Day 3 of the ongoing Test between India and South Africa started with the hosts getting bowled out.
Jasprit Bumrah finished up with the South African tail as Temba Bavuma did not come out to bat due to an injury he picked up at the start of the game. Marco Jansen remain unbeaten at 84 runs, helping South Africa end their innings at a score of 408.
India trailed behind 163 runs to begin their batting. While an improved show was expected from their batters, things panned out in the worst possible manner. Both the Indian openers Rohit Sharma (0) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (5) fell early as Kagiso Rabada and Nandre Burger respectively broke the visiting side’s back.
Shubman Gill (26) cracked a few boundaries, showing positive signs. But as the innings started to grow, Marco Jansen dented India’s hopes this time with the ball, rattling the stumps to get the better of Shubman.
Gerald Coetzee too could have been among the wickets had Shreyas Iyer’s catch not been dropped in the slips off his bowling.
A threat of an innings defeat looms large over India. They are still 101 runs behind South Africa’s first innings total with the score reading 62/3 at the moment. Virat Kohli and Iyer are batting on 18 and six runs respectively.
