Following the resignation of Grant Bradburn from the
PCB, Mickey Arthur and Andrew Puttick also left their positions at the National
Cricket Academy in Lahore. Following the 2023 ODI World Cup, each of the three
received a new portfolio.
In April 2023, Arthur became a director of the
Pakistan men’s team, while Bradburn was named head coach and Puttick was named
batting coach.
“All three individuals informed the Pakistan
Cricket Board of their decision to leave their respective jobs by the end of
January 2024,” the PCB said in a release. “The decision was taken
amicably between all the stakeholders.”
Arthur, who balanced his responsibilities with the
Pakistan team, will stay on as head coach of Derbyshire. Bradburn secured a
three-year contract to become the head coach of Glamorgan last week, while
Puttick became the batting coach of Afghanistan.
All three were left in a precarious situation when
Pakistan was unable to advance past the 2023 World Cup semifinals since the
PCB’s interim management committee did not have the power to remove them from
their positions. Their positions have been reassigned, and none of them went on
the squad’s recent Test tour of Australia. Adam Hollioake is the batting coach,
and Mohammad Hafeez is the team director and head coach. That was Pakistan’s
loss in all three Tests.
Currently, the team is in New Zealand for a five-match
T20I series and is trailing by 3-0.
