[Saba Sports News] Following their disappointing performance in the recent ODI World Cup, Bangladesh is now focusing on improving for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Head coach Chandika Hathurusingha revealed that their preparation starts with the upcoming three-match series against New Zealand. He emphasized the team’s objective to pinpoint key players for the tournament, scheduled to be held in the West Indies and USA.
Bangladesh, however, has struggled in New Zealand, never having won a T20I series there. Hathurusingha hopes their recent ODI victory in Napier will inspire confidence in the team, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, as they look to replicate their success in the T20 format. He believes the ODI win will boost the team’s morale.
Hathurusingha is focused on refining Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup strategy during the New Zealand series. With less than six months until the tournament, getting the right team composition and adapting to conditions are his priorities. He plans to assign players specific roles they’ll likely have in the World Cup, utilizing the upcoming 11 games and the Bangladesh Premier League as preparation platforms.
