[Saba Sports News] Chris Paul’s recovery from his hand injury appears to be progressing slower than expected, impacting his return to the Golden State Warriors.
Paul, a 12-time All-Star guard, recently shared an update on his injury, revealing a more complex surgical procedure than initially anticipated. According to Shayna Rubin of the Bay Area News Group, Paul’s surgery involved the insertion of 15 pins and a metal plate in his hand. Currently in a cast and undergoing physical therapy, he is set for a reevaluation in a week.
The 38-year-old sustained the injury, a break in the second metacarpal of his left hand, during a January 5th game against the Detroit Pistons. His 19-year career has seen multiple hand surgeries, possibly contributing to the current surgical complications.
In his debut season with the Warriors, Paul has contributed 8.9 points and 7.2 assists over 27.6 minutes per game, primarily as a substitute. Initially expected to return in four to six weeks, Paul’s extended recovery period may further challenge the Warriors’ already depleted backcourt.
