After reaching his century, Warner celebrated with his trademark ‘Pushpa’ dance, inspired by the Indian movie ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ starring Allu Arjun.
Warner had a lucky break when, on 73, he hit a low full toss that seemed to go to a fielder, but he believed he had grounded the ball and gestured accordingly. The on-field umpires referred the decision to the third umpire, who confirmed that the ball had been grounded, allowing Warner to continue his innings.
Warner played a pivotal role in a 132-run partnership for the second wicket with Steve Smith, who scored 71 off 68 balls. Marnus Labuschagne also contributed with a fine knock of 62 off 47 balls.
However, Glenn Maxwell stole the show with a breathtaking 106 off just 44 balls, setting a record for the fastest hundred in ODI World Cup history, reaching the milestone in just 40 balls. These performances helped Australia post a massive total of 399/8 in their allotted 50 overs.
