[Saba Sports News] Australia batter David Warner informed that he is seeing T20 World Cup 2024 as the finish line for his international career.
Having retired from the Test and ODI formats recently, Warner has sight set at the upcoming T20 World Cup, where he plans to bid adieu to international cricket.
Warner returned to the Australian colours, cutting short his ILT20 stay. In the first T20I of the ongoing series versus the West Indies, the southpaw smashed 70 runs off 36 deliveries.
“Pleasing to get the win on the board. Was a nice wicket to bat on and you have to make the most of it. Feel great and refreshed, I’m pumped. I want to play the T20 World Cup and finish there and it’s a good journey we’ve got going for the next 6 months. Pretty much the same squad going to New Zealand so it’s important we win there as well,” Warner said as quoted at the post-match presentation.
His 70-run knock took Australia to a total of 213 runs that their bowlers defended to win the match by 11 runs. Warner also became the first player to record fifty-plus scores in his 100th match in all formats.
