[Saba Sports News] During the IPL 2024 auction, franchises were actively securing top talent for the 17th season of the Indian Premier League. One of the notable acquisitions was Australian batter Travis Head, who was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 6.8 crore. Amidst this development, former Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner shared an Instagram story where he revealed being blocked by the franchise on both X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.
In his story, Warner not only shared the screenshot of being blocked but also tagged Travis Head, acknowledging his joining Sunrisers Hyderabad. This incident highlights Warner’s complicated history with the franchise. He was controversially stripped of his captaincy during the 2021 IPL season, which marked the beginning of his strained relationship with Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Later in 2021, Warner was dropped from the team, and Kane Williamson took over as captain. Despite this change, the team’s fortunes did not improve, and they were the first to be eliminated from the tournament that season. Warner previously reflected on this period as a difficult time, stating in a 2021 interview with Sports Today that he was dropped without explanation and was unsure about the unanimous nature of the decision-making within the franchise’s management.
