[Saba Sports News] Shortly after retiring from Test cricket, David Warner shared his interest in future coaching opportunities. However, he humorously noted that his wife, Candice, would have a say in this decision, as it would mean spending additional time away from home.
Warner, who remains active in T20I cricket, is set to participate in the upcoming T20 World Cup starting June 1, 2024. At 37, he continues to play for Delhi Capitals in the IPL and other global franchises, including in the BBL and ILT20. Post-retirement, Warner is considering a coaching role.
“Certainly, coaching is on my radar for the future. But, I’ll need to check with my wife about the time away,” Warner remarked to Fox Sports.
Discussing his early career aggression, Warner acknowledged a shift in his approach. He recalled being encouraged to sledge opponents to disrupt their game, a tactic he now sees diminishing in modern cricket. Warner envisions a future where cricket focuses more on strategy and less on psychological tactics.
“The aggression and sledging of the past are fading. It’s more about the game now. If I become a coach, I see this evolving further, focusing on cricket skills and strategies to win,” Warner concluded.
