Sports News] Recently, F1 Haas team driver Hulkenberg shared his thoughts on
the pressure in Formula 1 during a media interview. He suggested modifying the
current points system in F1 due to the lack of points for the teams lower down
the standings. Hulkenberg stated, “Currently, only the top ten drivers
earn points in each race, with an additional point awarded for the fastest lap,
but only if the driver finishes in the top ten. It is evident that there is a
significant gap between the cars on Sundays. While it may be premature to
consider changes at this time, if this trend continues, it could be worth
exploring. Perhaps adding points during qualifying or implementing other
adjustments.” With Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes, and Aston Martin
consistently dominating the top positions, it becomes challenging for other
teams to compete and they often find themselves fighting for minimal points.
The editor suggests that introducing points or alternative measures during
qualifying could provide an opportunity for the lower-ranked teams to narrow
the gap, as they are always in close proximity to each other, and their mindset
is inevitably influenced.
