[Saba Sports News] With just over three months to go, anticipation is building for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, set to kick off on June 1 in the West Indies and the USA. To heighten excitement, the ICC unveiled a new promotional video on February 22, showcasing a constellation of cricket stars including South Africa’s Quinton de Kock, India’s Shuman Gill, Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi, Australia’s Marcus Stoinis, and former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard.
Notably, the promo also captures Virat Kohli’s memorable bowling stint during the 2016 T20 World Cup semi-final against the West Indies, reflecting the fervent passion of fans and the electrifying atmosphere of cricket matches.
Ticket sales for the tournament opened today, although tickets for the opening match and the eagerly anticipated India vs Pakistan game are yet to be released on the ICC’s official website. The tournament will commence with a match between the USA and Canada on June 1 at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.
The India vs Pakistan showdown is scheduled for June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. India will begin their campaign against Ireland on June 5, followed by matches against Pakistan, the United States (June 12), and Canada (June 15).
This year’s T20 World Cup will feature 20 teams divided into four groups, with the top two from each group advancing to the Super 8s. From there, the top two teams in each Super 8 group will progress to the semi-finals on June 26 and 27, leading to the final in Barbados on June 29.
