[Saba Sports News] Star Pakistani bowler Naseem Shah recently underwent successful shoulder surgery after sustaining an injury during an Asia Cup 2023 match against India. Unfortunately, this setback has ruled him out of the much-anticipated ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, commencing on October 5. Pakistan’s campaign will begin on October 6 against the Netherlands.
Naseem Shah, in a post-surgery video, expressed gratitude for the support and well wishes he has received. He sustained the shoulder injury during the Asia Cup, leading to his withdrawal from both the Asia Cup and the upcoming World Cup. “Alhamdulillah, I’m recovering well. Your prayers and well wishes have been my strength. Thank you all for your support,” he tweeted.
In the Asia Cup clash, India posted a formidable 356 runs, with KL Rahul and Virat Kohli scoring centuries. Pakistan struggled in response, managing only 128 runs, with Kuldeep Yadav taking five wickets for India.
Pakistan’s preparation for the World Cup hasn’t been ideal, with losses in warm-up games against New Zealand and Australia. Their performance in the Asia Cup was also disappointing, as they were eliminated after defeats to Sri Lanka and India in the Super Four round.
