[Saba Sports News] On Wednesday, the Indian Cricket Team arrived in Lucknow for their sixth ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup match scheduled for October 29 (Sunday) at Ekana Sports City. They are set to face England. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, India is riding high with an undefeated streak in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, currently leading the tournament with 10 points and an impressive net run rate of +1.353.
In contrast, England finds themselves in the lower half of the table, standing at 8th place with just 2 points from 5 matches.
In their recent game against New Zealand, India made an impactful start by putting the Kiwis to bat first, reducing them to 19/2 in the powerplay. However, a resilient partnership of 159 runs between Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra helped New Zealand stage a comeback.
Nevertheless, India fought back strongly, limiting New Zealand to 273 runs in 50 overs. Shami was India’s star bowler, claiming five wickets for 54 runs, with Kuldeep Yadav also performing well, securing 2 wickets for 73 runs. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj contributed with a wicket each.
During their chase, India got off to a positive start with a 71-run opening partnership between captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Despite losing some wickets, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja guided India to a four-wicket victory with two overs to spare. Mohammed Shami’s outstanding five-wicket haul earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ award.
The Men in Blue are eager to maintain their form in the upcoming match, while England aims to challenge the Indian team and gain a much-needed confidence boost with a victory against the favorites of the ODI World Cup 2023.
