[Saba Sports News] Rohit Sharma, the former captain of Mumbai Indians (MI), and his team were recently seen taking a brief break in Jamnagar before their next IPL 2024 game against Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 7, at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
A social media video captured Sharma, alongside Tilak Varma, exiting Jamnagar airport, with Sharma’s family also in tow. This break follows MI’s loss to Rajasthan Royals, as mentioned by veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin shared an anecdote about Kieron Pollard’s past form recovery after a getaway in Goa, suggesting MI uses short breaks to rejuvenate its team.
Ashwin highlighted MI’s current retreat to Jamnagar on his YouTube channel, hinting at the team’s need for relaxation and regrouping after a challenging start to IPL 2024. Under new captain Hardik Pandya, MI has faced three consecutive defeats, starting with a close loss to Gujarat Titans.
Their second game saw them concede 277 runs to Sunrisers Hyderabad, the highest in IPL history, in a match that amassed a record total of 523 runs, despite MI’s valiant effort in the chase. The team’s third match, their first home game of the season against Rajasthan Royals, ended in disappointment as they managed only 125 runs and lost by six wickets, placing them at the bottom of the league table.
