[Saba Sports News] Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant expressed frustration after his dismissal during the match against Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Pant, who struggled, scoring only 28 runs off 26 deliveries, visibly showed his disappointment by hitting the curtains with his bat on his way back to the dressing room.
Despite a good start from Mitchell Marsh and David Warner, Delhi Capitals faced trouble after losing two quick wickets. Pant and Warner tried to stabilize the innings, but Pant’s slow strike rate became a concern. Pant eventually fell to Yuzvendra Chahal in the 14th over.
Following Pant’s dismissal, South African batsman Tristan Stubbs played a brilliant innings, scoring an unbeaten 44 off 23 balls, keeping Delhi in the hunt. However, Rajasthan’s Avesh Khan and Sandeep Sharma’s strong bowling ensured a 13-run victory for Rajasthan Royals, lifting them to the second spot on the points table.
Reflecting on the match, Pant expressed disappointment with their performance, particularly their strategy in the death overs. He acknowledged Riyan Parag’s impressive innings for Rajasthan Royals, which helped them post a challenging total of 185 runs. Pant emphasized the need to learn from their mistakes and bounce back in the next match.
“Definitely disappointed. Best thing we can do from this is learn from it. The bowlers did really well till 15-16 overs, batters sometimes go on at the death and score quickly, that happened in this game. Marsh and Warner gave a good start, but we lost a few wickets in the middle overs and in the end we had too many runs to cover up.
There are other options, we wanted Nortje to bowl at the death and sometimes you can go for runs, hopefully we can do better in the next match,” Pant said in the post-match conference.
