Former South Africa all-rounder Lance Klusener has
joined the Lucknow Super Giants as an assistant coach for the 2024 Indian
Premier League. Klusener also oversees the Super Giants, a SA20 affiliate based
in Durban. Klusener will be in the Super Giants’ back room with head coach
Justin Langer and assistant coach S Sriram.
The Guyana Amazon Warriors won their first CPL championship last year under
Klusener’s leadership. Klusener will play in the Indian Premier League
alongside West Indies phenom Shamar Joseph, with whom he previously
collaborated at Amazon Warriors in the Champions League. Joseph became a member
of Super Giants, taking over for Mark Wood.
Klusener has had stints as head coach of Afghanistan
and batting coach of South Africa and Zimbabwe. He has also worked with Tripura
in the Indian domestic circuit.
In all Klusener had played 49 Tests and 171 ODIs for South Africa from 1996 to
2004.
