[Saba Sports News] The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 has provided fans with thrilling cricket, but ticket sales have brought controversy. An FIR was filed in Kolkata before the India vs. South Africa match at Eden Gardens, alleging ticket hoarding by BCCI, CAB, and BookMyShow for black market sales.
In response, Kolkata Police issued a notice to BCCI President Roger Binny, requesting information on ticket sales. Binny has been asked to provide documents to the investigating officer of Maidan police station.
Kolkata Police has arrested 19 individuals, seized 108 tickets, and filed seven cases related to the matter. The ticket booking process for the World Cup has faced criticism from fans across India, who have endured long waits in virtual queues without success.
Reports suggest that only a few tickets were initially released for fans at various venues, prompting the BCCI to release around 4 lakh more tickets after controversies emerged. Tickets for the final games and knockouts will be released soon, and fans hope for a smoother booking experience.
