[Saba Sports News] With the NBA trade deadline a month away, attention is turning towards potential major moves, including the future of Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, speaking on “NBA Today,” reported that the Los Angeles Lakers are in talks with the Hawks for a possible trade involving Murray.
According to Wojnarowski, the Hawks are ready to part ways with the Murray-Trae Young backcourt and are actively engaging with teams, including the Lakers. The Hawks are looking to get substantial value in return, prompting speculation about what assets the Lakers could offer to remain competitive in the deal.
Wojnarowski also noted that the Hawks are in discussions with several other teams, but the Lakers are currently seen as strong contenders in the trade talks.
The Hawks initially acquired Murray and Jock Landale from the San Antonio Spurs in June 2022, sending Danilo Gallinari, a conditional 2023 first-round pick, and first-round picks for 2025 and 2027 to the Spurs, along with a swap of 2026 first-round picks.
For the Lakers, who are at a 19-20 record and seeking a boost, especially at guard, acquiring Murray could be a significant move. If the Hawks can recover part of their investment through a deal with the Lakers, a Murray transfer to Los Angeles appears increasingly plausible.
