[Saba Sports News] The Los Angeles Lakers may have missed out on making a significant in-season trade, but they are actively planning for the offseason. According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, the Lakers are still on the hunt for a third star, with Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks emerging as a top target. Buha suggests that acquiring Young could involve parting ways with Austin Reaves.
Interestingly, earlier in the year, the Lakers expressed interest in another Hawks guard, although no deal materialized. Now, Young appears to be the more viable option for potential movement. With the Hawks struggling to make a mark even with Young’s presence, speculation has arisen regarding his availability this offseason.
Securing Young won’t come cheap for the Lakers, considering the players, picks, and Young’s hefty contract—a five-year, $215 million extension inked in 2021. Nevertheless, Young’s impressive performance, averaging 26.4 points per game, coupled with his sharpshooting skills, could address a gap in the Lakers’ lineup. However, integrating another ball-dominant player raises questions about team dynamics and chemistry.
