[Saba Sports News] Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball is reportedly making a significant leap forward in his recovery from a knee injury that has affected him both on and off the basketball court. Ball, who has been sidelined from NBA action since January 2022, is anticipated to begin running again in the upcoming month.
This news was shared by Bulls head coach Billy Donovan in a conversation with Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune. Donovan highlighted that Ball is now free from the pain that previously hindered his recovery, following his third knee surgery in two years. “The pain that was causing the setback has been eliminated… The next progression for him will be to start running, and that will be here in January,” Donovan explained.
Ball has previously discussed the challenges he faced with everyday activities, such as climbing stairs, during his lengthy recovery process. The ability to make both metaphorical and literal strides in his rehabilitation marks a significant victory for the UCLA product and his supporters. This update is particularly encouraging given earlier concerns this year that Ball’s injury could potentially cut short his professional career.
While the Bulls do not anticipate Ball’s return to the court this season, the latest developments suggest that a comeback next season could be within reach for the former second overall draft pick, provided his recovery continues smoothly.
