Sports News] According to British media reports, Manchester United are planning
to incorporate advanced artificial intelligence technology to assist coaches in
making on-field decisions. The club intends to collaborate with the School of
Sports at Manchester Metropolitan University, offering research and innovation
opportunities for figures like Erik ten Hag through doctoral projects. Using
artificial intelligence, these projects aim to develop analytic and metrics
that are currently unavailable to their Premier League rivals. The objective of
this partnership is to enhance decision-making during matches by measuring a
wider range of metrics at a faster pace. Throughout games, players will be
tracked and different phases of the match will be analyzed, providing real-time
feedback to the coaching staff on individual performance, injury prevention,
and identifying areas to exploit opponents. The technology will initially be
tested in training sessions before being implemented during matches. It would
be interesting to know what the fans think about this development.
