[Saba Sports News] Patrick Beverley, in a recent podcast episode, included Mo Bamba on one of his lists, which didn’t sit well with the Philadelphia 76ers center.
Former teammates Beverley and Adam Ferrone often create intriguing lists on “The Pat Bev Podcast,” with input from listeners. In this instance, they compiled a list of the “whitest black guys in the NBA,” with Bamba among the selections.
Bamba didn’t take kindly to being included. He responded strongly to Beverley via social media, asserting his background and upbringing.
“Alright, I got time today @patbevpod. I’m a top 5 black-white guy because I can properly articulate how I feel & how I see things? You a smart man, do your research. I’m not a gangsta to any capacity but I’m born & raised from Harlem. I made it off the block & out the trenches,” Bamba wrote.
Beverley, addressing the list on the podcast, emphasized that it was meant in jest and expressed respect for Bamba and the other players mentioned. Despite Bamba taking offense, Beverley didn’t retract his comments.
Beverley’s recent list and his actions in a game against the Boston Celtics stirred controversy among fellow players this week.
