[Saba Sports News] Mohammed Shami’s brother, Mohammed Kaif, is making waves in his first-class cricket debut with an impressive performance in the Ranji Trophy. Kaif delivered a remarkable spell of 4 for 14 and later contributed significantly with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 45 while batting at number nine. His efforts helped Bengal secure a first-innings lead of 128 runs against Uttar Pradesh on the second day of their Group B match in Kanpur.
Shami had earlier this month praised his brother for making the Bengal Ranji Trophy team, encouraging him to give his best and continue working hard. In the Bengal versus Uttar Pradesh match, Bengal resumed at 95 for 5 and were eventually all out for 188 in challenging conditions at Green Park, despite a strong 8 for 41 by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
In response, Uttar Pradesh, initially bowled out for 60, showed resilience in their second innings, ending the day at 46 without loss, still trailing by 82 runs. Samarth Singh and Aryan Juyal remained not out on 21 and 20, respectively, setting the stage for an exciting contest on day three.
Earlier, Bengal had struggled, losing three wickets for just 15 runs. Kaif, however, stepped up, finishing as the top scorer with a 79-ball 45, including four boundaries and two sixes. He formed crucial partnerships with the tailenders – first a 52-run stand with Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal (20) and then a 26-run partnership with Ishan Porel (10) for the last wicket, steering Bengal to a competitive total.
