Sports News] Victor Osimhen, the Serie A Napoli star who is currently
representing the Nigeria national team, recently granted an interview to the
media where he shared details about his childhood experiences for the first
time. Osimhen revealed that he was born in a slum in Nigeria and had to make a
living by collecting and selling scraps as a child. He even resorted to selling
bottled water on the streets to support his family. Recognizing that football
was his only way out of poverty, Osimhen dedicated himself to the sport from a
young age. Through hard work and determination, he has now achieved a new life
and helped his family overcome poverty. Osimhen’s journey led him to join Serie
A’s Napoli in August 2020, after his successful stint at Ligue 1’s Lille.
During his time at Napoli, he played a pivotal role in the team’s triumph in
the 2022-23 Serie A championship, emerging as the top scorer of the season with
26 goals. His exceptional performance earned him the prestigious Golden Boot
Award, making him the first African player in the 125-year history of Serie A
to achieve this honor. Furthermore, Osimhen also received the African Best
International Player Award for the same season.
