[Saba Sports News] Ruturaj Gaikwad and Axar Patel enjoyed a humorous interaction following India’s 44-run victory against Australia in Thiruvananthapuram, taking a 2-0 lead in their five-match T20I series.
In a video by the BCCI, Axar, playful in spirit, challenged India’s vice-captain Ruturaj to provide a 60-second match report while promising to distract him. Accepting the challenge, Gaikwad presented the report amidst Axar’s humorous interruptions, including offering him water and oranges, adding a light-hearted touch to the moment.
The match itself saw a strong start from India, led by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s rapid 53 off 25 balls and a solid partnership with Gaikwad, who scored 58 off 43. Ishan Kishan and Rinku Singh also contributed significantly, setting a high target of 236 for Australia. The Australian response was spirited, with notable efforts from Matthew Short, Steve Smith, and a strong partnership between Marcus Stoinis and Tim David. However, Australia ultimately fell short, ending at 191/9, with Jaiswal named Player of the Match.
The series moves to Guwahati for the third T20I, where Australia will aim for a win to keep their series hopes alive.
