[Saba Sports News] British media reports indicate that James
Ratcliffe has expressed a desire to transform Old Trafford into the
“Northern Wembley” in the UK. Ratcliffe and his team have allegedly
engaged in discussions with Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, with the aim of
creating a world-class iconic stadium that can rival Wembley and accommodate
approximately 90,000 spectators. The proposed redevelopment around Old Trafford
would extend to the Manchester Canal, connecting with Media City, which serves
as the BBC’s headquarters. No final decision has been made regarding whether to
rebuild Old Trafford or construct an entirely new stadium. Some individuals
believe that rebuilding Old Trafford would only serve as a short-term solution,
and eventually, a new stadium would need to be built. Rebuilding Old Trafford
is estimated to cost around £800 million, while constructing a new stadium
could range from £1-2 billion. It would be interesting to hear the opinions of
Manchester United fans regarding this potential development.
