[Saba Sports News] During the pre-game warmup on Saturday, San Antonio Spurs newcomer Victor Wembanyama sustained an injury by accidentally tripping over a ball boy. The incident occurred just before the Spurs’ Christmas weekend game against the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Wembanyama was practicing his post moves when he stumbled over a ball boy on the baseline, seemingly injuring his right ankle.
In an effort to play, Wembanyama had his ankle re-taped. However, the Spurs, prioritizing the wellbeing of their key player, decided to bench him for the game. This decision followed a previous absence of Wembanyama from the team’s Tuesday game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, also due to an injury to the same ankle. The match against the Mavericks marked only the third game Wembanyama has missed in the Spurs’ first 27 games of the season.
