[Saba Sports News] Chris Paul’s time with the Golden State Warriors might be short-lived. Shams Charania of The Athletic, speaking on FanDuel TV’s “Run It Back,” reported that the Warriors are open to trade discussions for the veteran player as the February 8 deadline approaches. Golden State is considering the trade of Paul and other veterans as part of what Charania describes as “open conversations.”
Paul, 38, is currently sidelined with a left hand fracture and was averaging 8.9 points and 7.2 assists per game prior to his injury. While his performance metrics may not significantly boost his trade value, his contract could be appealing to other teams. Paul has a $30.8 million contract that is essentially expiring, as it is non-guaranteed for the 2024-25 season.
With the Warriors facing a hefty luxury tax bill and a 19-24 record this season, ranking 12th in the Western Conference, the team might be contemplating a major restructuring. As a result, Paul, who is in his first year with Golden State, along with other notable veterans, could be potential candidates for trade before the deadline.
