Sports News] According to reports from Spanish media, Barcelona coach Xavi has
decided to appeal to the Spanish High Court in an attempt to overturn a 2.5
million euro fine imposed by the Spanish tax department. The fine stems from a
previous investigation by the Spanish local tax department, which concluded that
Xavi owed taxes during his time playing for Barcelona from 2013 to 2014. As a
result, the tax authorities issued a fine requiring Xavi to pay back taxes and
fines. Initially, Xavi filed an appeal, which led to a reduction of the fine to
2.5 million euros. However, Xavi now asserts that he had already paid the
appropriate taxes on image rights in accordance with regulations during that
period. He argues that the Spanish tax department lacks sufficient grounds to
prove that he has any outstanding tax liabilities. Consequently, Xavi has
decided to directly appeal to the Spanish High Court, seeking the cancellation
of the 2.5 million euro fine imposed by the tax department. The opinions of
fans regarding this matter may vary.
