Sports News] According to reports from Spanish media, despite Xavi announcing
his departure from Barcelona at the end of the season, the club is still keen
on retaining him due to financial constraints. Barcelona has not yet engaged in
direct discussions regarding a coaching change but is awaiting the outcome of
the Champions League quarter-finals against Paris Saint-Germain. However, from
an economic standpoint, Barcelona is currently unable to offer Xavi a high
salary compared to his peers such as Carlo Ancelotti and Diego Simeone. It has
been reported that Xavi’s monthly salary is a mere 320,000 euros, while
Ancelotti earns 910,000 euros per month, and Simeone’s salary is as high as
2.83 million euros. Although club president Joan Laporta remains optimistic about
resolving Barcelona’s financial challenges, there is limited flexibility in the
market. Additionally, many young players within the team are not in favor of
Xavi’s departure. It remains to be seen how Barcelona will respond to the
demand of retaining Xavi, considering both financial and sporting factors.
