[Saba Sports News] Los Angeles Clippers forward PJ Tucker is reportedly dissatisfied with his situation in California. Acquired from the Philadelphia 76ers in the James Harden trade last October, Tucker has found himself in a diminished role compared to his new teammate Harden, who has flourished. ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk reports that Tucker, a 13-year NBA veteran, is actively seeking a trade prior to the upcoming Thursday deadline. Despite previous indications of Tucker’s unhappiness, his situation has remained unchanged.
Tucker’s involvement with the Clippers has been limited, playing in only 12 games and averaging 1.2 points and 2.4 rebounds over 14.4 minutes per game. This marks a significant reduction in his on-court contributions, particularly after returning from Europe, where he consistently played over 24.2 minutes per game and often started. Given the Clippers’ recent success, winning 17 out of their last 20 games and boasting a 26-5 record since December, Coach Tyronn Lue is unlikely to alter the team’s rotation.
The main obstacle in facilitating a trade for Tucker is his current contract; he earns $11 million this season and has an $11.5 million player option for the following year, challenging the Clippers to find a team willing to absorb his salary.
