[Saba Sports News] The ongoing rivalry between the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics added a new chapter during their latest encounter in Miami, where the Celtics emerged victorious with a 110-106 win. Tensions flared in the fourth quarter when Heat’s Duncan Robinson and Celtics’ Jaylen Brown became entangled while Brown attempted to position himself for a pass.
Brown’s forceful arm yank sent Robinson to the floor, clutching his shoulder in pain, which led to Brown receiving a flagrant foul.
Robinson, after the incident, labeled Brown’s action as “dirty play,” expressing concerns over the potential for severe injuries from such actions, citing the risk of season-ending injuries from similar situations historically in the NBA. He deemed the play dangerous and excessive.
“I just thought it was a dirty play to be honest with you,” said Robinson. “That’s how people miss entire seasons. Knock on wood, obviously. But those types of plays, you’ve seen before throughout the history of the NBA. Guys suffer really bad injuries from instances exactly like that. So I thought it was dangerous, unnecessary, excessive.”
The game’s intensity was further heightened by injuries to Heat players Josh Richardson and Terry Rozier earlier on. With the Heat and Celtics having a significant playoff history, including three postseason meetings in the last four years, the rivalry remains heated. Brown’s earlier taunting of the Heat this season adds another layer to their contentious dynamic, especially as the Celtics have now swept the season series against the Heat.
