[Saba Sports News] In a recent French Ligue 1 match
between Lorient and Monaco, Lorient’s new signing, Benjamin Mendy, a
29-year-old former defender from Manchester City in the Premier League, made
his debut as a substitute. Mendy had a solid performance in this match, which
ended in a 2-2 draw. It’s worth noting that this marks Mendy’s comeback to
professional football after a hiatus of 763 days. From August 2021 to July
2023, Mendy was suspended by Manchester City due to multiple sexual assault
accusations, resulting in a two-year suspension from the sport. He did not
participate in competitions during that time. Following his acquittal, Mendy
joined Lorient, a team in the French Ligue 1, on a free transfer.
