[Saba Sports News] India starts their ODI World Cup 2023 journey against Australia at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium on October 8. The Chepauk pitch is traditionally known for favoring spinners, and the track for the India vs. Australia match is expected to be a turning one.
Australian batsmen are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations for the spin challenge, knowing that India may field three spinners – Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin.
In their practice sessions, Australian batters focused on fine-tuning their skills against spin bowling. They faced their own spinners, including Adam Zampa, D’Arcy Short, Marnus Labuschagne, along with local net bowlers. Their training emphasized the importance of rotating strike and placing the ball into gaps, recognizing that boundaries might be challenging to come by on turning tracks.
While spinners dominated the bowling in the nets, pacers like Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Australia’s captain Pat Cummins also had their practice sessions alongside local pacers.
Australia has an impressive track record at Chepauk in ODIs, winning five out of six games at the venue. Their ability to adapt to different conditions is evident, despite being accustomed to fast and bouncy tracks at home.
In contrast, India has played 14 matches at Chepauk, winning seven and losing six, with one game ending in a no-result.
