[Saba Sports News] During a recent Chicago Bulls game at the United Center, fans exhibited shocking behavior that prompted strong reactions from retired Bulls player and current color analyst Stacey King, as well as Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. The incident occurred when Jerry Krause’s widow was booed while accepting an honor on behalf of her late husband during his induction into the Bulls’ new Ring of Honor, leading her to tears.
King, appalled by the fans’ actions, condemned them during the third quarter of the Bulls’ game against the Warriors. He expressed his disappointment in the fans, stating that such behavior was not characteristic of Chicago and that it was the worst thing he had ever witnessed in sports. King highlighted Krause’s contributions to the Bulls’ six championships, calling the fans’ behavior classless and a sad reflection on the city.
Steve Kerr, who won three championships with the Bulls and knew Krause well, was also dismayed by the incident, describing it as shameful and expressing his devastation for Krause’s widow, Thelma.
Jerry Krause, who passed away in 2017 at 77, played a pivotal role in building the Bulls’ dynasty, though he was often controversially viewed, particularly as portrayed in the ESPN miniseries “The Last Dance.” The incident has been labeled a new low for fan behavior by both King and Kerr, highlighting the need for respect and decency in sports.
