[Saba Sports News] Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has sparked rumors about joining the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2024 as a mentor, with his recent response to a tweet. Originally from Uttar Pradesh, Raina is celebrated for his tenure with the Chennai Super Kings and his contribution to Indian cricket. After not being picked in the IPL 2022 mega auction, he retired from the IPL and took up commentary.
Raina’s intriguing tweet reply to a journalist, who had labeled the news of his LSG mentorship as fake, suggested he might be considering a return to the IPL in a non-playing role.
Raina tweeted, “Why? Your news can’t be rite all the time?”
This development follows Gautam Gambhir’s departure from LSG to rejoin Kolkata Knight Riders, where he previously led the team to two IPL championships.
Renowned for his IPL achievements, Raina is among the top run-scorers in the league’s history. In his 238 IPL innings, he amassed 5528 runs with an impressive average and strike rate, including a century and 39 fifties. Besides his success with CSK under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, Raina also captained the Gujarat Lions in 2016 and 2017, leading them to the playoffs in their first season.
Raina’s international cricket legacy includes being the first Indian to score centuries in all three formats and his vital role in India’s 2011 World Cup victory, especially with key performances in the knockout stages
